NFD (No For Drugs) is a nongovernmental,
non-profit, organization.
Established by Garo Margossian and registered under permit number 345 issued by the Ministry of Interior on July 6, 2006, NFD (No For Drugs) was born out of personal tragedy and years of volunteer work in drug prevention. After losing four friends to overdose and seeing his brother fall into addiction, Garo returned to Lebanon with a determination to provide professional help for drug addicts.
The Lebanese drug market has expanded significantly in recent years, with the emergence of new substances like Speed, GHB, and Ketamine. Drug users are increasingly younger, some as young as 11 years old. These substances are more accessible, found in schoolyards and streets, and their prices are dropping.
Moreover, Lebanese society often views drug addiction as a crime or taboo subject, preferring to turn a blind eye.
The escalating number of teenage and college student addicts and the complex issues surrounding drug addiction will undoubtedly impact the next generation of adults. Despite existing institutions, Lebanon faces significant gaps in space, availability, trained medical staff, and affordable treatments.
NFD is committed to addressing this crisis efficiently. We receive addicts from across Lebanon and sometimes abroad. We engage with each individual personally, considering legal, family, professional, and environmental factors to find the best solution for their case. In the long term, NFD plans to establish a specialized hospital for withdrawal management and a rehabilitation center providing affordable treatment according to international standards.
